Pad manufacturing and distribution model

The foundation has been quite aware of the issue of sustainability of its pad manufacturing and distribution model. In a charitable activity mode, much depends on the donation, funding or grants received from individuals and organizations, and if these sources of funds are sufficient, the cost recovery efforts are something which need not bother too much. However, the foundation has faced difficulty in getting sufficient donation and funding and therefore, it was imperative that efforts should be made to recover production and distribution costs by collecting contribution from those users of Kishoree pads who can afford it. Towards this goal, partial cost recovery, to start with, and then full cost recovery, is being attempted by the foundation.

Door to door sale/distribution of the pads

Door to door sale/distribution of the pads is being carried out in villages. This is generally taken up by women and girls of the local areas, including some village-based cosmetic vendors (called chudi-wali) as well as other local sellers and shopkeepers. This also gives such women and girls an opportunity to earn some money, as they are provided a commission by mark-up of price printed on the Kishoree pad packet.
